Professional Profile

Dr. Matos joined the WTAMU faculty in 1998. She received her BSN from WTSU in 1989, a MSN from WTAMU in 1995 and a Ph.D. in adult education leadership in 2007 from Walden University.

Teaching and Related Service

Dr. Matos taught Fundamentals of Nursing until 2005. She currently teaches Preparation for Professional Practice and the clinical internship.

She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau and the Texas Nurses Association.

In March of 2006, Dr. Matos completed the Certified Nurse Educator's examination. 

Research and Creative Activity

During her dissertation process, Dr. Matos became intrigued with understanding why nursing students pass or fail the NCLEX licensure examination. Upon completion of her dissertation, she has become involved with assisting students to understand the skills for successful testing.

Personal Sketch

Dr. Matos lives on a city farm with nine Paso Fino horses, two dogs, a guinea and numerous other animals. She and her husband have two teenage children. She enjoys cooking Puerto Rican specialties for her family.
