Phone: 806-651-4413 Professional Profile Carthel earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in physical education at Eastern New Mexico University ('74 and '75), where he played collegiate football and competed in track. He has spent more than 30 years coaching and teaching students. He is a past president of the school board for the Friona Independent School District, and he serves on the board of directors for Kids Inc. of Amarillo.
Research and Creative Activity Carthel has served on numerous boards with the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and written several articles for manuals of the AFCA and the Texas High School Coaches Association. He is a frequent public speaker. Personal Sketch Carthel and his wife, Cindy (Phillips), of Farwell, Texas, have been married for 35 years, and have two adult children, Colby and Courtney. Colby accompanies his father on the sidelines as WTAMU's defensive coordinator. | | |
