Professional Profile

Ms. Hutto first joined the Department of Communication Disorders faculty as a part time instructor in Spring 2008.  In the fall of 2008, she joined the faculty as a full time instructor and clinical supervisor.  She received a B.A. in speech and hearing sciences from West Texas State University in 1979 and a M.S. in communication disorders in 1995 from Texas Tech University. 

Teaching and Related Service

Ms. Hutto teaches undergraduate courses in communication disorders and is the clinical supervisor for the WT Speech and Hearing Clinic.  She also serves as a consultant on speech, language, and hearing issues for Muleshoe I.S.D.

Ms. Hutto is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association, Panhandle Region Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and WT Women. 

Research and Creative Activity

Ms. Hutto’s research interests include TBI in returning military personnel and the effects of family support on communication remediation outcomes.

Personal Sketch

After 29 years living and working in Muleshoe, Texas, Debbi is making the transition to the Canyon area.  She is the widowed mother of two adult children, T.J. and Candace.  She enjoys music, interior design, attending sporting events, and spending time with family and friends.
