Professional Profile

Dr. Ammerman joined the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business in 2017. He received a B.M. in Music from the University of Cincinnati in 2006, an M.B.A. from Webster University in 2011, an M.S. in Finance from Georgetown University in 2017, and a Ph.D. in Personal Financial Planning from Kansas State University in 2017.

Teaching and Related Service

Dr. Ammerman teaches Business Finance, Seminar in Finance (corporate finance), and personal finance. He has been invited to present at several national conferences, and has co-authored several papers and articles for publication. Dr. Ammerman and his co-author won the CFP Board financial planning research paper award at the 2017 meeting of the American Council on Consumer Interests. Dr. Ammerman is a member of the Academy of Financial Services, the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education, and the American Council on Consumer Interests.

Research and Creative Activity

Dr. Ammerman’s research interest include household debt, and the intersection of household and business finances for entrepreneurs and closely held businesses. At present, Dr. Ammerman’s work focuses on adapting theories of finance and principles of corporate finance to the household in order to improve the understanding and household financing decisions and the practice of financial counseling and planning.

Personal Sketch

Dr. Ammerman and his wife have three dogs and a cat.  Dr. Ammerman enjoys classical music, and his favorite composers include Bach, Mozart, and Prokofiev.  He also enjoys traveling, food (eating it more than cooking it), and serving others as a teacher and mentor.
