He received a B.S. in biology from Angelo State University in 2000 and a M.S. in interdisciplinary studies from West Texas A&M University in 2007. Teaching and Related Service Carthel teaches all sections of the Life Wellness class. He’s a member of the WTAMU football staff and has served as defensive coordinator since June 2006. Carthel served as recruiting coordinator/defensive line coach at Abilene Christian University from 2000-2006. Carthel is a member of the American Football Coaches Association. Research and Creative Activity Carthel’s research interests include graduation rates of collegiate athletes, Title IX equity and recruiting strategies and techniques used in college athletics. Personal Sketch Carthel is married to the former Sarah Butler, who is also a volleyball coach/SES professor at WTAMU. He enjoys hunting with his two German shorthaired pointers, Scout and Patton, fishing in Wyoming and working in his garden during the summer. |
