Professional Profile

Dr. Whaley joined the College of Education and Social Sciences in 2016 after working in the public school system for 18 years. She received a B.S. in Elementary Education from Oklahoma State University in 1998, a M.Ed. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2004 and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2014.

Teaching and Related Service

Dr. Whaley teaches undergraduate and graduate-level courses including Educational Foundations, Instructional Strategies, and School Leadership Proficiencies. Additionally, she conducts student teacher seminars on using technology in the classroom.

Dr. Whaley is the author of “Superintendent’s Practical Intelligence Across High and Low Performing School Districts” and “Commonalities of Women Superintendents in Texas”. She has coauthored several publications and has made numerous presentations.

Research and Creative Activity

Dr. Whaley’s research interests include Leadership, Policy, Gender, and Technology.

Dr. Whaley lives in Amarillo with her husband. She enjoys traveling, reading, and snorkeling.
