Professional Profile

Dr. Coneway joined the College of Education in the fall of 2013. She received a B.S. in Education from St. Mary of the Plains College, Dodge City, KS in 1980, and her Masters of Education in Reading from West Texas A&M University in 2006. She graduated from Texas Tech University with a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction, with a focus on Language and Literacy in 2013.

Teaching and Related Service

Dr. Coneway teaches Reading and Early Childhood courses in the Department of Education.

Dr. Coneway is the co-chair of the Dia de los Muertos Committee, co-sponsor of Kappa Delta Pi- International Honor Society in Education.

Research and Creative Activity

Dr. Coneway’s research interests include early literacy, strategies for writing instruction, and dyslexia.  She is currently researching the impact of early childhood experiences on at-risk pre-school students.

Personal Sketch

Dr. Coneway lives in Hereford, TX with her husband of 39 years, Tom Coneway. They have three adult children: Lisa and her husband, Christopher who live in Fairfax Station, VA.; Holly from Houston, TX; and Ben and his wife, Jamie who reside in McKinney, TX. Tom and Betty are the proud grandparents of six adorable grandchildren: Paige, Lauren, Sam, and Abigail , and Olivia and Patrick!
