Award-Winning Production. The WTAMU production of Marfa Lights earned the Directors’ Choice Award for Best Play from the American College Theatre Festival (ACTF) as well as awards for Excellence in Scene Design for Jim Kemmerling, professor of speech communication and theatre, and Excellence in Lighting Design for Brandon Mitchell, senior theatre major from Graham. Three cast members also received Irene Ryan Acting Awards for Excellence in Acting.
Distinguished Alumnus. Perry Crafton, associate professor of theatre, received a Distinguished Theatre Alumnus in Theatre Education award from Sam Houston State University.
Choreography in Russia. Edward Truitt, associate professor of dance, was named a Fulbright Senior Specialist peer review committee member and was invited to teach and present choreography at the International Festival of Contemporary Dance, Open Look in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1999, 2003, 2004, 2007, and 2015.
Music Video. Edward Truitt and Leslie Williams, associate professors of dance, coordinated and choreographed local dance talent for a music video with filmmaker Trevor Hands of Los Angeles. Members of the WTAMU Dance Ensemble are featured in the video, dancing to the music of local band Windy City.
National ADDY. A poster illustrated by Bob Caruthers, professor of art, is included in The Big Book of Color in Design by David E. Carter. The poster earned a silver ADDY at the national level and is included in the book as an example of how to use color in graphic design.
