

| The College of Education and Social Sciences grew out of the restructuring of the University under the Strategic Plan in 1986. The College is composed of the Department of Behavioral Sciences; Division of Education; Department of History and Political Science; and Department of Sports and Exercise Sciences. |
| The College has a dedicated faculty, a large majority with doctorates from prominent universities throughout the country, and more than 1,200 students in 45 major fields of study. Departments within the College of Education and Social Sciences offer undergraduate programs in criminal justice, education, kinesiology, history, political science, public administration, psychology, sociology and social work. Accounting for a variety of professional preparations, the College has programs emphasizing such concentrations as criminal justice administration, pre-law, legal assistant, public administration, kinesiology and teacher education, along with graduate work in a number of fields of study. |
