Clinical literature and music therapy techniques with children with developmental disabilities, sensory impairment, orthopedic handicaps and emotional disturbances. One-to-one experience using task analysis and music therapy appropriate for individual goals and objectives. (1 0 2) 5376. Techniques in Music Therapy II. Prerequisites: 272, 273, 274, 275, 378. Continuation of 5375. Clinical approaches and literature for adults with mental illness, geriatrics, substance abuse, rehabilitation from injury or accidents. Individual music therapy session with an adult. (1 0 2) 5379. Music in Therapy II. Prerequisite: 378. Functions of music therapist with emphasis on use of music in specific therapeutic environments, including hospitals, institutions and special education. Related literature will be reviewed. Advanced course examining major categories of solo vocal literature. (2 0 0) 5413. Chamber Music Literature. Prerequisite: 248. Survey of music written for small instrumental ensembles with emphasis on the string quartet. (2 0 0) 5451. Piano Pedagogy. Prerequisite: six semester hours of piano or consent of instructor. Survey of various teaching materials and methods. Development of technique, style and musicianship. Topics: teaching children and adult beginners; teaching advanced students. Stylistic analysis of representative works and consideration of historical trends. Advanced rehearsal techniques for band and/or orchestra: instrumental routines and pedagogy; contemporary solutions to rehearsal problems; organization, administration and classroom management. Advanced rehearsal techniques for choir: pedagogy and voice building; contemporary solutions to rehearsal problems; administration, organization and classroom management. Stylistic perfommance and interpretation of choral literature of six major historical periods: Antiquity to 1450, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic Era, 20th-century music. A combination of two periods studied each semester of offering. May be repeated twice for credit when topics vary. (2 0 0) 5575. Band Directors Workshop. Offered only during WTAMU Band Camp. One topic will be studied during each semester of offering: 20th century styles and idioms, basic theory pedagogy, contemporary thought in music theory, advanced instrumental arranging.
