Dr. Neal R. Weaver

Vice President of Institutional Advancement

 

Dr. Neal Weaver joined the West Texas A&M University administration as vice president for institutional advancement in June 2008. He formerly served as vice president for university relations at Northeastern State University (1998-2008) in Tahlequah, Okla.

As vice president for institutional advancement at WTAMU, Weaver oversees the Office of Development and Major Gifts, the Annual Fund, Alumni Relations, the Office of Communication and Marketing Services, and the University Print Shop in addition to serving as the Executive Director of the WTAMU Foundation.

Weaver earned his undergraduate degree from Oklahoma Panhandle State University, master’s degree in Business Administration from Southeastern Oklahoma State University and a Ph.D. in organizational leadership from the University of Oklahoma. Prior to joining the administration at Northeastern State University in 1996, he was sports editor and general reporter for the McAlester (Oklahoma) News Capitol, assistant director of public relations/media coordinator at Southeastern Oklahoma State University and public relations specialist for Lucent Technologies.

Weaver serves on and chairs numerous campus committees in addition to his service in the community and to the Advancement profession. He is a member and past District Chair of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education District IV Board of Directors as well as a presenter at CASE conferences and summer institutes. Currently, he serves on the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce Legislative Affairs Committee and the Canyon Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

Neal and Kristi Weaver have three sons, Austin and twins Brett and Blake.
