Dr. Don D. Albrecht

Vice President for Student Affairs

Dr. Don D. Albrecht came to WTAMU as associate dean of student services in January 1992. He was promoted to dean in September 1993 and later to vice president in October 1995.

Albrecht oversees staff members responsible for the Jack B. Kelley Student Center and C.O.R.E. Center (student leadership/development programs, Buff Branding, New Student Orientation, peer education, alcohol/drug education, student organizations, honors and activities, diversity and commuter services); Educational Services (testing, tutoring and supplemental instruction); Recreational Sports (Virgil Henson Activities Center, sports clubs, intramurals and wellness services); student judicial affairs; residential living and food services; Life Services (medical, disability, counseling and career services, experiential education, student employment services and child care); and Student Government, among others.

Albrecht is a native of Rosenberg and holds three degrees, including a doctorate in educational administration, from Texas A&M University. He began his career in student affairs at Texas A&M in 1977 as assistant director of student activities and was promoted in 1983 to associate director. He left his alma mater in 1985 to create and head the department of student activities at Baylor University and was named assistant dean in 1987. He remained at Baylor until his appointment to WTAMU.

He is a member of the American College Personnel Association; National Association of Student Personnel Administrators; Texas Association of College and University Student Personnel Administrators; Council of Student Services Vice Presidents/Texas Public Universities; Coffee Memorial Center Board of Directors; Canyon After School Program Board of Directors; Canyon Main Street Advisory Board; City of Canyon Board of City Development; SECC Local Employee Committee; and Leadership Amarillo and Canyon Alumni Association. He previously served on the United Way of Amarillo and Canyon Board of Governors, the Leadership Amarillo and Canyon Board of Directors and the WTAMU Foundation Board of Directors.

Albrecht is married to Roxie Pranglin and has two daughters and one son. They are members of the First Presbyterian Church in Canyon.
