Today is the first regular day of classes. Let's start with the 7:45 am junior high school breathing class in Northen Recital Hall. Excuse the picture. I'm just waking up. (But in my defense, the whole world is mostly blury to me all day long.)

Mr. Lancaster is their instructor.

High school breathing class. Mr. English in the instructor for this class.

First period classes, so let's make the rounds. Students have a full band rehearsal, a woodwind or brass/percussion sectional, and an instrument sectional. They're all in rotation. Here we have the HS (=high school) concert band bassoons with Dr. Bell.

Mr. Doege and the JH (junior high) symphonic bassoons.

Dr. Barger and the HS concert band saxophones. There are also observers from the Band Director Workshop. Tamarie Sayger has a full schedule for her participants during our band camp.

Mr. Rivera's HS white band tubas and euphoniums.

JH saxophones and Mr. Yett.

Mrs. Rhynes is the teacher for the JH honor clarinets.

Mrs. Casso with the HS white band horns.

Mr. Burns is working with the HS white band trumpets.

Mrs. Crutchfield and the JH honor band oboes.

Second period. Off to Founders Hall. Mr. Bennington has the JH varsity horns.

Mr. Davis teaches the symphony orchestra cellos.

Mr. Lefevre and the JH concert band saxophones.

I don't know.

Mrs. Davis and her violin class.

Dr. Bartley with the symphony orchestra violins and violas.

Mr. Flores and the double basses.

Dr. Goza and the philharmonic orchestra first violins.

At 1:45 pm, we have a ton of choices for the required afternoon class. We're visiting Mrs. DuBois' high school clarinet ensemble.

Mrs. Lough and the conducting class.

Bassoon reed making with Mr. Doege, Mr. Cameron (both standing toward the back of the room), and Dr. Bell (red shirt). (I'm also wearing a red shirt today.)

Mr. Martin and the JH jazz improvisation class.

The JH horn ensemble with Mr. Bennington.

Mr. Worosello and the HS woodwind choir. These are the top woodwind players at our camp. They were selected by the Sunday audition.

Junior high rhythmic reading.

Mr. Davis and the orchestra literature class.

High school rhythmic reading class.

With Mrs. Mitchell.

Ms. Frazier and the JH flute ensemble 1.

Back to Mrs. DuBois and the HS clarinet ensemble.

I went to the 3 pm JH assembly and took a whole bunch of pictures but only three survived. (I could have been out of film.) Anyway, the game was to put on as many T-shirt as possible in 45 seconds. (It seemed like it went on for minutes!)

The 4:30 drum major class moved from the Fine Arts Complex Grand Lobby to Northen Atrium.

Jazz Band 2 was rehearsing in Northen Recital Hall, Mr. Hinds is their conductor.

Also at 4:30 is a clinic for music educators. Different professionals are invited to present. Tamarie Sayger of Band Directors Talk Shop and Dr. Russ Teweleit of WTAMU put together the program. Today Dr. Gary Garner, WTAMU professor emeritus, was the guest speaker. The Band Director Workshop participant on campus this week were in attendance.

Next, I headed over the the activities center to catch the color guard 4:30 class. They divided into two groups. This is the intermediate group.

And the advanced group.

And a couple more of intermediate as I made my way out.

Seated volleyball.

On to the raquetball courts.

Down to the basement for bowling.

It's dinner time, so I went to the cafeteria. Aramark provides food services for the university. They do a really good job for our camp.

Let me show you what was on the menu. They always have a station for food allergies.

The main meal was a mexican food station. (By the way, it's a buffet, so you can go back to any service area and get seconds.)

Toppings.

Fruits, snacks, desserts.

Pizza.

Flamed burgers and fixings and cheesed fries.

All kinds of salad stuff.

Puddings and fruits.

Milks.

Cereals.

Waffle makers.

Spoons, forks, knives, napkins. Just like home!

Drink machines.

Satisfied campers.

At 6:30, campers were given the opportunity to go to the outdoor musical T*E*X*A*S.

Dr. Teweleit might send me some pictures, so I'll put them on in the morning.
