The Friday morning drum major class.
Let's see which of the junior high school campers are still breathing. Before camp begin 167 had signed up for the class. There are 18 survivors. I guess young children think that breathing early in the morning is just too difficult to endure.
High school breathing was the same story, but there were only 14. out of 111.
First period pictures. HS honor band in the BIT.
The JH varsity band.
The brass and percussion sectional in Legacy Hall.
In NRH the HS maroon band had their full band rehearsal.
HS concert band brass and percussion were in N-1010.
The white band woodwinds were in N-1022,...
...and the white brass and percussion were in N-1023.
Mr. Vizzutti is meeting with all the campers who play trumpet. That's there first, second, and third hours this morning.
Today all of the 1:45 required class ensembles performed for their peers. Junior high school was in the JBK Legacy Hall and the high school ensembles were in Northen Recital Hall. I was at the JH assembly. We began with Mr. Martin and the percussion 2 group.
Mrs. Rhynes and the clarinet 2 ensemble.
Next was the flutes directed by Ms. Frazier.
Percussion 1 was next with Mr. Switzer.
Mr. Zorn and his 75 trombones, so they played "76 Trombones" anyway.
Mr. Bennington and the horn ensemble.
I was frustrated with my picture taking (as you undoubtedly are, too), so I thought of another idea. Here come the trumpets.
Still not very good, but there's some partial "proof of life." Next was Mr. Swails and clarinet 1.
Mr. Lefevre (the blur to the right) followed by his 42 saxophones. Count them (if you can).
Double basses and they brought some cello friends. Mr. Flores is their instructor.
The tubas and euphoniums are our last group. Mr. Perez conducts.
The high school assembly was still going. The tubas and euphoniums were parked at the front of the stage, ready to mobilize.
Accidental shot, but too good to throw away.
Then I saw the trombone instruments at "parade rest." I thought it looked like submarine periscopes. The other pleasant memory that occured to me, is that, if they maintained that position and I played my instrument, I would be heard.
Next was the horn ensemble directed by Mrs. Casso. Did I mention that they are playing a coro spezzato piece, and that's why they are separated? (Call me.)
I thought I could do the trick from the JH assembly and draw pictures of them as they passed by. It didn't work.
That's all I got. The Directors Band performed a 3:30 concert for the junior high school students, so that the concert I attended. (High school was at 4:30.)
Dr. Bell was the featured soloist for one of the pieces. Did I tell you that he's joining the WTAMU music faculty this fall?
Mr. Vizzutti performed three pieces with the band. It was amazing.
High school in the atrium waiting for their turn to hear the Directors Band and Mr. Vizzutti.
THE DANCE.
THE END.
