Elaborate Sand "Castles"
These are some of the most intriguing works of sand art I have seen.  The first shows the sequence of steps, and a finished product.  I observed these at a Zen Buddhist Monastery in Kyoto, Japan. Below are pictures of sand art others have witnessed.

Bed preparation Designs are made with the rake in the next picture. The detail work is done by hand.

The result is a fine finish. Some designs are large scale.
Some students from India provided these sand art photos of Hindu deity representations.
